Lesson 4. What I like doing on holidays
Info for teachers and parents
Objective: By the end of this 30-minute lesson, you will be able to talk about your holiday preferences using the present simple tense, distinguish “be” from other verbs in present simple, and use vocabulary related to likes, dislikes, hobbies, and activities.
Time: This lesson (90 minutes) can be divided into three parts of 30 minutes each, although it’s not necessary. Everything depends on a child. The idea is to follow the pace of a kid.

Now say what you like doing on holidays and why. Remember that we can always use a noun or V+ing forms after the verbs like, love, enjoy, and be a fan of. E.g.:
I enjoy (like, love) football. I enjoy (love, like) playing football. I am a fan of (like, love) bicycles. I am a fan of (like, love) riding a bicycle.
You can also use to + infinitive after like and love. E.g.: I like to ride a bicycle because I feel strong. I love to read near the sea because it is romantic.

A fun holiday
Meet Lily, a 9-year-old girl learning English and doing sports. She loves outdoor activities like roller skating, flying a kite, and playing catch. But she’s not a fan of collecting stamps.
One day, her family has a choice: holidays on a beach or go to the mountains. Lily can’t decide, so they do both!
At the beach, Lily builds sandcastles and jumps on a trampoline. She even tries surfing. Then they head to the mountains. Lily loves the tall trees and fresh air. She explores the forest, spots butterflies, and sees a deer.
Lily realizes she doesn’t need to choose. She enjoys both the mountains and the beach. It’s about enjoying nature in different ways.
With a happy heart, Lily goes home, ready to share her adventures and learn more things.
