Ending -s/-es
Read the rules
/s/ after voiceless p, t, k, etc.: tips, buckets, rocks
/z/ after voiced l, m, d, etc. or vowel i, o etc.: tomatoes, tags, sums
/iz/ for -ies: diary – diaries, party – parties, comedy – comedies
/iz/ for -es: (-sses, -ches, -shes, -xes ): matches, kisses, bushes, taxes
Now repeat after the speaker.
- /s/: wallets, banks, cats, students
- /z/: keys, bags, umbrellas, phones
- /iz/: diaries, watches, glasses, hairbrushes

Ending -ed
Read the rules
Voiced consonants and vowels (v, n, m, r, b, g, z, y, e) + -ed (cleaned) → -ed sounds like /d/.
Unvoiced consonants (p, k, s, ch, sh, f, x) + -ed (looked) → -ed sounds like /t/.
t, d + -ed (hated)→ -ed sounds like /id/.
Now repeat after the speaker.
- /t/: cooked;
- /d/: begged;
- /id/: wanted;
- /t/: flicked;
- /d/: called
- /d/: believed
- /t/: confessed
- /id/: decided
