Describe, do not name!
Many species display perfect cryptic coloration that makes them invisible in their natural habitat.
Others are vividly colored in shades of emerald and turquoise blues, reds and yellows.
Very often we forget the names of objects, places and other things. Sometimes, we don’t know them. But it doesn’t mean we cannot communicate and explain ourselves. For this, there are secret phrases. They are like riddles – describe things without naming them. Take this one, for example: It looks green, it opens red. What you eat is red, but what you spit out is black. What’s that? The answer is hidden in the line below.
Очень часто мы забываем названия предметов, мест и других вещей. Иногда мы их просто не знаем. Но это не значит, что мы не можем общаться и объяснять, что хотим. Нам помогут секретные фразы. The Siberian cat has occurred naturally in the region of Siberia for over two thousand years.
It has been around in Russia for centuries as a standard domestic cat.
We characterize an object by
- Describing it like a watermelon in the example above;
- Saying where, when or what we use it for;
- Saying who usually use it and for what.
- Naming a general group of things / animals, etc. + its characteristics.

- Говоря где, когда или для чего мы его используем;
- Говоря кто обычно его использует и для чего.
- Называя общую группу вещей / животных и т.д. + её характеристики.
For this, we need some special phrases.
- This is red, green and black; small or big, good or bad, etc.
- This is something we use it at home, at night, to sleep.
- Doctors usually use it to feel the pulse.
- This animal with long legs lives in Australia.

- Он красный, зелёный и чёрный; маленький или большой, плохой/хороший.
- Это что-то, что мы используем дома, ночью, чтобы заснуть.
- Обычно его используют доктора для измерения пульса.

- It is something (that) we use for (something) / to do (something).
- This is the place where people do /go / run …
- It is how you answer / do something …
- It is the person who does something …
- She (he, they, etc.) is (are) the person (the people) who is (are) + characteristics.
- We need this to do something.

The hedgehog’s lifespan is from 3 to 8 years in the wild, up to 10 years in captivity. They are from 10 to 30 centimeters long, depending on species.
